No More Room in Hell 2 Crossplay: PC, PS5 & Xbox
Yes — No More Room in Hell 2 supports crossplay between PC (Steam, Epic, Microsoft Store), PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. It arrived with the 1.0 Armageddon launch on August 11, 2026, the same day the console versions released at $29.99. There is a crossplay toggle, squads hold 2–8 players, and cross-progression has not been announced. Below: every platform, how to squad up across platforms, and fixes for the most-searched errors.
Platforms, dates and requirements
| Platform | Availability | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| PC – Steam | 1.0 on Aug 11, 2026 (Early Access since Oct 22, 2024) | $29.99. Windows only. Steam store lists 'Cross-Platform Multiplayer'. |

How to squad up with friends across platforms
- Open the Social menu from the main menu. It holds your friend list, a Pending Invites (squad invite) tab and Leave Squad. Friends are identified by a numeric friend code.
- Send the invite while both of you are in the main menu. A developer confirmed on the Steam forums that squad invites can only be sent when the recipient's status is "in main menu".
- Accept exactly once. If the toast notification does not appear, accept from the Pending Invites tab — but never from both, because accepting the same invite twice disbands the squad.
- The squad leader chooses public or private. Private lobbies include a map selector and a difficulty choice; public queues let you pick only the overall goal, and the CRC assigns the mission. See the maps page for what you are queuing into.
- Everyone needs a Responder — since 1.0 the leader cannot deploy if a squad member has no character.
The crossplay toggle and cross-progression
A crossplay on/off option exists in the settings. Turning it off shrinks the matchmaking pool: Torn Banner acknowledged longer queue times with crossplay disabled in its launch-week known-issues post, and PC players report 10-minute-plus waits on Hard with it off. Leave it on unless you have a specific reason. Cross-progression (one account across Steam, PS5 and Xbox) is not mentioned in any official material; the 1.0 launch also wiped Early Access progression for everyone, so there is no legacy carry-over either.
Crossplay and squad problems — status and fixes
| Symptom | Official status | What to try |
|---|---|---|
| "Failed to join squad" when accepting a cross-platform invite | No dedicated official fix published as of September 7, 2026. | Everyone restarts the game; disable any VPN; several players report that removing DLC / Veteran Survivor Pack cosmetics from the Responder fixed it (others say it did not). Make sure the invite is sent while both players are in the main menu. |
| "Squad disbanded" — a member is audible on voice but invisible in the lobby, then kicked after ~30 seconds | One cause is official: accepting the same invite twice (toast and Social menu) disbands the squad. | Accept an invite exactly once. If it still happens: VPN off, everyone relaunch, and re-invite from the main menu. |
| Crashes when squadding with heavily customised or DLC-outfit Responders | Fixed in hotfix 1.0.3.1 (August 17, 2026). | Update the game. The interim official advice was to avoid logos and patterns on Responders. |
| Cross-region squads failing (e.g. Asia with North America) / wrong servers | Fixed in hotfix 1.0.4.0 (August 25, 2026): players in some regions were not routed to the correct servers. An Oceanic server was added on August 13. | Update the game; the squad leader's region decides the server. |
| "Server is full" when entering a match | Fixed in hotfix 1.0.4.0. | Update the game. |
| Error 408 (request timeout) on startup | Reported by multiple players since launch week; no official fix found. | No confirmed workaround. Check the official known-issues post and the Steam discussions for the current status before reinstalling anything. |
| Error 30005 on launch | An Easy Anti-Cheat error (the game uses EAC); no official 1.0 fix found. | Update Windows, then repair/reinstall Easy Anti-Cheat from the game's install folder. Several players report it resolving itself after a restart or a day. |
| Stuck on a continued loading screen | Official Zendesk article (September 2, 2026). | Submit a ticket with your Steam name, or: disable Steam Cloud for the game, delete %LocalAppData%\NMRiH2, relaunch. |
Official support: Torn Banner help center. The September 2026 update is slated to focus on controller deadzones and menu navigation according to the developers' August 20 blog.
Crossplay FAQ
- Is No More Room in Hell 2 crossplay?
- Yes. Crossplay arrived with the 1.0 Armageddon launch on August 11, 2026, when the game came to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Torn Banner's own wording: 'crossplay meaning wherever your friends play, you all can fight to survive together'. The Steam and Xbox store pages both list cross-platform multiplayer and co-op.
- Is NMRIH2 crossplay between PC and PS5? PC and Xbox? PS5 and Xbox?
- The official statement covers all platforms without listing pairs. PC-to-PS5 squads are confirmed by players since launch. PS5-to-Xbox is implied by the same statement but we have not seen it individually confirmed, so treat it as expected rather than verified.
- Can you turn crossplay off?
- Yes, there is a crossplay toggle in the settings. Torn Banner has said matchmaking takes longer with it disabled and listed 'adjustments to the crossplay toggle to improve matchmaking time' as under investigation; PC players report very long queues, especially on Hard, with it off.
- Does No More Room in Hell 2 have cross-progression?
- Nothing official says so. No store page, patch note or help-center article mentions sharing Responders or account progress between Steam, Epic, PS5 and Xbox. The only related feature is Xbox Play Anywhere, which links Xbox and the Microsoft Store PC version. Assume progress is per platform until Torn Banner says otherwise.
- Is No More Room in Hell 2 on Game Pass?
- No. The Xbox store lists it as cloud playable with Game Pass tiers but says 'game purchase required', so it is not a catalog title. On console you also need Game Pass Core/Ultimate (Xbox) or PS Plus (PS5) for online play.
- How do you play with friends on other platforms?
- Open the Social menu from the main menu, add your friend (a numeric friend code exists) and send a squad invite while both of you are in the main menu. The invited player accepts once — from the toast or from the Pending Invites tab, never both. The squad leader then picks public or private queue; private lobbies let you choose the map and difficulty.
